Yes, court records are public under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Union County Criminal and Civil Records

The Circuit and District Courts handle all criminal and civil cases in Union County. Individuals can find records of these cases in person at the court where the case was handled. The Circuit and District Courts accept criminal and civil court record requests from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All record seekers should be willing to complete a records form and pay the necessary copying fees for the record to be released to them. Otherwise, they can use the Arkansas Case Search tool to view criminal and civil records for free. The search criteria are name, case ID, or citation number.

Union County Marriage and Divorce Records

The Union County Clerk makes marriage records accessible to the public at the office from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This clerk maintains this Union County public record from 1885 to the present. A copy of a Union County marriage certificate costs $1, and a certified copy costs $5. Copies of divorce records can also be obtained in person but at the Circuit Clerk’s office. The Clerk charges a small fee for copies of records and only provides them after the requester gives sufficient to help locate the record.

Union County Birth and Death Records

The Arkansas Department of Health Vital Records Division provides birth and death certificates to eligible individuals. The following persons can receive certified copies of those records:

  • Individuals age 16 and older (applies to Union County birth certificate)

  • Guardian
  • Informant, funeral home, and beneficiary (applies to death certificate)

  • Online: The Vital Records Online Service allows individuals to obtain birth and death certificates online in minutes. Online requests incur an extra $5 processing fee and a $1.85 identity verification fee. Only credit cards are an acceptable method of payment.   • By mail: Certified copies of birth and death certificates can be retrieved by mailing a completed Birth or Death Certificate Application form, an acceptable ID, and the mandated fee in check or money order to the Vital Records Division.   • Walk-in: Record seekers can place an order for birth and death records by visiting the Vital Records Division from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The staff will fulfill requests on the same day for customers arriving by 4:00 p.m. with acceptable IDs. Those who arrive at the office past 4:00 p.m. can pick up their request the next day or may ask that it be mailed. Fees can be paid by credit or debit cards, cash, check, or money order.
  • Telephone: Customers can apply for copies of birth and death records by phone at (866) 209-9482. They must pay their fees by debit or credit card.

Union County Property Records

Union County property custodians like AssessorTax Collector, and Circuit Clerk make their records available to the public upon request. Individuals can easily get property records such as liens, deeds of trust, survey plats, deeds, mortgages, release deeds, powers of attorney, notary bonds, and foreign judgments in person at the custodian offices. Copies of property records cost $0.50 per page and $5.00 per document for certified copies.
